The Diary of an Old Soul

Daily Readings by George MacDonald (1824 - 1905)

February 28

The thing I would say, still comes forth with doubt

And difference:—is it that thou shap'st my ends?

Or is it only the necessity

Of stubborn words, that shift sluggish about,

Warping my thought as it the sentence bends?—

Have thou a part in it, O Lord, and I

Shall say a truth, if not the thing I try.
